When designing your bag and thinking of materials you want it to be made of, the lining of a bag is often forgotten by newer designers. Having your bag lined not only means having a nicer finish, but it also allows the bag to last longer.
Different materials help to set the vibe you want for the design - the same leather bag can feel more casual or fancier depending on the material selected for it's interior. Let's talk about some of the materials we use at Clutch Made!
Fabric Lining
This is the most cost effective option for those looking for a nice finish on their bag's intereior. A few of our favorite lining fabrics include bengaline, poly/cotton twill, satin, organic cotton twill, and nylon. They all bring a different feel to your bag, but you can always see, feel, and review your options when we work on sourcing materials for your bag.
It's impotant to remember that leather bags' parts are not pinned, but glued together for the making. This means that, when working with fabric lining, it's important to stay away from white and lighter shades that might be see through and give your clients an unwanted behid the seams look.
Leather Lining
For a more sophisticated finish, try a leather lining. This needs to be made in a lighter article though, and Lambskin will have the same look and a very similar feel to the leather exterior. You can try matching exterior and interior colors, or go for a pop of color with the lambskin lining.

For a softer touch, suede is your article of choice. It can be found as sheep suede, pig suede, cow suede - don't worry, we will work with you on deciding which is the best one for your design.
